Cummins-Powered Dodge Power Wagon Is Both Stunning And Ludicrous

The modern era of high-performance off-roading pickup trucks leapt into a realm of absolute absurdity with the 702-horsepower Ram TRX, which dwarfs the Ford F-150 Raptor in power, size, and price. But all the long-travel suspension, four-wheel-drive systems, and overland camping rigs emerging as true market forces seem to largely leave diesel power behind. And, of course, nothing can beat a classic pickup when it comes to style.

Putting a Cummins turbodiesel engine into this classic pickup only scratches the surface of its list of mods.

But this immaculate Dodge Power Wagon that just popped up for sale on the auction site Bring a Trailer combines a Cummins turbodiesel engine with a blacked-out exterior and custom interior that should justify an absolutely monstrous bidding frenzy.

Under the hood, the main attraction comes in the form of a Cummins turbodiesel inline-six that was rebuilt and now features over-bored cylinders to increase the displacement above 5.9 liters. Complementary works included a polished crankshaft, new turbos, and all the pumps and seals, too.

The powerplant routes grunt through a four-speed automatic on the way to a true dual-range transfer case, a Dana 60 front end with locking hubs, and a Dana 70 rear differential. Damping comes courtesy of remote-reservoir King coilovers, while disc brakes all around hide beneath 17-inch Fuel Beast wheel and 40-inch Toyo mud terrains.
