Amid all the automotive headlines and YouTube videos about Detroit’s modern muscle car wars, gearheads can get lost in massive power figures, 0-60 mph times, and bargain-basement prices. There’s even a dealer in Ohio selling Roush-supercharged Mustangs with 750 horsepower for under $45,000! But as great as the market glut might seem right now, there’s still something about the good-old classics that today’s muscle cars just can’t beat. And yet, there’s also no doubt that the good-old classic can’t come close to keeping up with the beefy products now rolling out of Detroit factories, either. Enter the world of restomods, where talented builders marry the old with the new to create modern takes on vintage cars. And few restomods get better than an LS2-swapped 1969 Chevy Camaro that just popped up on the auction website Bring a Trailer.

The highlight of the build, as usual, lurks under this black Camaro’s long hood. The car was refurbished and improved in 2016, including the installation of 6.0-liter LS2 V8 that’s paired with a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed stick shift. Power is then routed to the rear wheels through a 12-bolt rear end equipped with a limited-slip differential. Dyno tuning as recent as May 2020 showed the powerplant producing an impressive 377 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque—at the wheels

verall, this restomod build remains relatively restrained, with a set of Budnik wheels measuring 18 inches in diameter and shod in Nitto NT55 Extreme ZR tires really being the only cue that something extra-special is going on here. Other goodies include a braking setup largely sourced from a C5 Corvette, while suspension is handled by tubular Speedtech Performance front control arms, a four-link setup at the rear, and coilovers all around. Bidding currently sits at $30,500 with six days left until the final gavel.
