Do not be fooled by this sweet face of my 3.5yr old, she gangsta; hence why we are still breastfeeding. .
I can’t say that when we started our journey that I imagined us here, three and a half years later, sprinkled with a few months of nursing my older son at the same time, but we carry on, even while I travel weekly for work. I’m grateful I got to stay home with her for her first 14 months of life, we exclusively breastfed as she refused a bottle of any kind (which wasn’t all that bad because it meant I didn’t have to pump for her as well like I had to to do for my first baby). I was tethered to her that first year, and that meant little to no social life, AKA adult time, or date nights for that matter, but I wouldn’t change a thing. .
People often look at me like I’m crazy or why would I still nurse my “old enough to eat real food” daughter, they are curious and let’s face it, sometimes just don’t understand or don’t want to understand why we would continue this oh so special relationship, and I’ve come to realize, that’s okay. Everyone doesn’t have to understand why we all do what we do, they don’t have to agree or even support us; the only thing that matters is how you feel about your life, your journey. Follow your heart and intuition, live your life leading with love not fear of what others will think and you will find true inner peace 😘. And most importantly, find a community of women who WILL support you, a place of acceptance and non judgement. This is what we are working towards with @mademommovement, that safe space to land, share, and lift each up. .
